Follow Up Boss has been my CRM of choice for my own real estate business since 2019. Now my entire brokerage uses this platform for all real estate business on a large team plan. So let’s dig into why!

Why Do Real Estate Agents Need a CRM?

There are agents who successfully run their business without a CRM. But I would venture that many of them are leaving money on the table as they slip through the cracks with no solid system in place to manage them.

Let’s start with the most impactful part of your decision-making process—monthly cost, While I strongly believe in investing in your business – focusing on potential ROI rather than cost – I also know that money can be tight for agents.

Yes, Follow Up Boss is a bit pricey considering it is only a CRM and nothing else. However, the features you get with FUB may offset some of the cost. It includes a lot of extra features considering other CRM add-ons that cost less and charge extra for it.

In fact, since 2019, Follow Up Boss has reduced and simplified its pricing, making it more accessible to agents trying to get their real estate listed. At only $69 per agent, per month, a single agent can easily afford Follow Up Boss, considering the fact that it can basically run their entire business.

Key functions are included at each price point, along with the follow up boss. The main difference in pricing plans is based on how many team members or users you are allowed to add to your plan.

One of my favorite features of Follow Up Boss is its interface. I personally like the clean, easy-to-navigate contact page that serves as a main dashboard for each person in your database. You can practically run your entire business from this interface.

You own your database. Always.

What can’t be overlooked is that, if you decide to leave Follow Up Boss for whatever reason, you keep your database. This is not the case with some typical CRMs for real estate agents, especially those agents access through their brokerage. But if you ever decide that you want to leave Follow Up Boss and switch to another CRM, you can easily download your entire list in a CSV file so that you can manage it in any way you choose. Can easily upload to other platforms. You can even keep many of your tags and notes in your database so you never lose sight of what you’ve done.

Real estate agents spend a lot of their time and money developing a database that will generate business for years. Without a database, a real estate agent has nothing to work with. The ability to maintain your database is critical to your success.

Follow Up Boss offers a range of easy integrations from IDX websites to lead generation platforms to email marketing services. With so many options for agents at different levels, it’s easy to customize the experience and continually adjust as needs change. This is a level of flexibility not many CRMs can provide to their customers.

Follow Up Boss has several pre-established and ready to use action plans.

As with most CRM platforms, there is a learning curve the first time you start with Follow Up Boss. They offer a boot camp to get agents started quickly, along with additional training modules for deeper dives into specific tasks. But one thing I love about Follow Up Boss is they have this little feature on each of their screens that allows agents to get quick training on the same screen the feature is on.

In the upper right corner of the screen is a blue button that says “How ____ Works.” When clicked, a short explainer video pops up to show you how to use the feature or function on the page without leaving the screen. It’s very convenient, and I for one love this little extra detail that makes life simpler.

Personally, my favorite thing about using Follow Up Boss is how easy it is to see everything I need to run my real estate business. With all of my lead’s data on the left side of the screen, I can easily access important information about my contact.

The center of the screen is dedicated to activities and communication between me and my contact. From here I can initiate anything—email, phone call, text message, or an automation—right from this screen.

I also like that Follow Up Boss really focuses on being a good CRM. Not trying to be more than that. Not everyone needs all the expensive websites, lead generators, or marketing management systems. It’s good to have a great platform that focuses on being exceptional at just one thing and nothing else. So many companies are trying to be the all in one service and leaving behind solo agents and new agents.

Follow up boss is also a great tool to grow. It integrates with many other services, allowing agents to add whatever they want to create their own customized system of services. That level of flexibility is everything for growing agents who want to use different tools at different levels of business success.
