A few weeks back, we promised to update you on the latest social media demographics. We started with Tiktok and today we have come to Instagram.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The criteria we used when choosing the “best” social media options is simple: Those people in your target demographic should use the platform heavily. If it involves buyers and sellers, you might want to be in the shoes of a Baby Boomer.
If, on the other hand, you’re targeting Millennial real estate consumers, we can show you where to spend your time.
Remember, targeting is key when it comes to marketing your real estate business. Otherwise, you are wasting both your time and money.
let’s talk about instagram
Although India leads the world in Instagram users with over 225 million active users, the US comes a close second with “…at least 143.4 million active users”, according to DataReportal.com.
Instagram attracts a crowd of young people aged 18 to 24 in the US, which accounts for its largest audience share (27.7%). The second largest segment of the audience is between the ages of 25 and 34… of which 25.7% are Instagrammers,” according to data from Oberlo.com.
Pay close attention to this statistic: “By 2022, approximately 87% of Instagram’s 1.31 billion users who could potentially be targeted by ads will be based outside the United States.”
If you’re selling international real estate, this statistic may not bother you. But nearly 90% of the platform’s target users are outside the US, a deal breaker for real estate agents.
Add to that the young age of the average user. If you are looking for potential homebuyers and sellers then there are platforms with better demographics.
who should you target
Although we discussed this in our previous post about TikTok, in a nutshell, baby boomers are buying and selling right now, who are 39% buyers. According to NAR, they have overtaken Millennials’ share of the buyer pool (28%).
Seller? Baby Boomers again, but Gen X is also part of the pool. NAR says the specific seller is 60 years old.
So, we have eliminated both TikTok and Instagram. But check back because soon we’ll have winners of which are the best social-media-platforms-for-real-estate-agents.
